Controvento – Primatraccia Bianco 2019
Controvento’s 2019 Primatraccia Bianco is made of 100% Trebbiano, from vineyards facing the sea to the east, planted from 1998 to 2001 on clayey and limestone soil. The fruit was harvested manually, destemmed and crushed. The grapes then macerated with their skins in stainless steel tanks for one week. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, without additions. After pressing, the wine was aged seven months in Florentine terracotta amphorae. It was then bottled unfiltered and unfined, with no sulphites added.
Located in Rocca San Giovanni, a stone’s throw away from the Adriatic Sea in Italy’s Abruzzo region, Vincenzo Di Meo runs Controvento. His small winery is partially situated in a valley, where he tends to approximately 5 hectares of organically-farmed vineyards, all on calcareous soil. Enzo strives to work in the purest form possible, keeping his vines and wines free from chemicals and additives. All of his bottles display great tipicità, perfectly reflect the region’s terroir and are produced only, he says, ‘thanks to the land, rich in stones, and its exposure to the sun, the sea breeze and the meticulous work of man.’
