In the hills around the village of Travo, located in Emilia-Romagna’s Piacenza province, Andrea Cervini runs Il Poggio. Raised in the vineyards, he grew passionate about the region’s indigenous grape varieties and its artisanal winemaking traditions. In 2006, his friend Giulio Armani, head-winemaker at Piacenza’s famous estate La Stoppa, inspired him to plant his own vines and to start producing natural wines. He now cultivates four hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Barbera and Bonarda – and does so with the utmost respect for nature and the region’s unique terroir.
