Ranchelle – Roccolina 2019
Ranchelle’s 2019 Roccolina is a blend of Ansonica, Francesino, Procanico, Verdello, Duropersico e Nocchianello, coming from the youngest wines that Christoph planted 4 years ago. 2019 was the first proper production year of the vinyards, and considering that the vines are so young, Christoph decided to make a white wine as to him the skins were not so interesting. After a short 2 day maceration on the skin, the wines ferment and age in stainless still tanks.
About Ranchelle
Located in the Maremma – a coastal area in southern Tuscany, halfway between Florence and Rome – a small winery is keeping the region’s rich viticultural heritage alive. Wine has been made here since the time of the Etruscans, but many of its indigenous grapes have almost disappeared or have been replaced by popular international varieties. Ranchelle, a small, four-hectare estate, was started in 2014 with the aim of preserving native grapes like Procanico and Nocchianello – showcasing their potential by following the method of natural winemaking. Their wines are sincere expressions of Maremma’s ancient terroir.
