Casé

Alberto Anguissola and Diego Ragazzi run Casè, a small, independent winery born in 1998 in the hills of Val Trebbia. After a careful analysis of the characteristics of the soil and the climate, they realized the huge potential of this land to grow pinot noir, and in 1998 they planted the first vineyards. With time, they also recovered old, abandoned vineyards in the valley, in order to preserve the local, traditional varieties. Today Casè is a growing business that makes a distinctive and unique wine. The primary objective is precisely to produce wines that are different from the “international taste”, wines indeed with a different taste each year.
The work in the vineyard is carried out without chemical fertilizers and herbicides. Harvesting is done manually by selecting the best grapes directly on the vine. Maceration on the skins is not used only for red wines, but as well for white wines as was traditionally done in the past. In the cellar no oenological products are used, alcoholic fermentation happens spontaneously thanks to the yeasts residing on the grapes, no chemical product is involved in any stage of the vinification, nor any physical treatment. The wines are bottled unfiltered and unfined, without added sulphites exception made for a cuvée, Riva del Ciliegio, where a tiny amount SO2 is added.
