Cantina Indigeno – Bianco Giara 2017
Cantina Indigeno’s 2017 Bianco Giara is made of 100% Trebbiano. After a manual harvest, the grapes were destemmed, crushed and loaded into amphorae, where they macerated with their skins for 3 days. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, without additions or temperature control. After pressing, the wine aged for 8 months on its lees in amphorae. It was then bottled unfiltered and unfined, with no sulphites added.
About Cantina Indigeno
Located in Montorio al Vomano, in the northern part of Italy’s Abruzzo region, Alfredo June, Nicola Reginaldi, and Loreto Lamolinara run Cantina Indigeno. This group of friends rents a few hectares of vineyards in the hills of Teramo, buying the rest of their grapes from neighbouring farmers. They produce light, very gluggable wines while keeping intervention in the cellar to a bare minimum: fermenting with indigenous yeasts, without temperature control, filtration or additions. Their bottlings are famously low in alcohol and they strive to keep their wines as fresh as possible, with crisp acidity and high drinkability.
